The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV) is a 501-C-3 nonprofit
organization dedicated to serving the needs of individuals with brain
injuries and their families. Formerly known as the Virginia Head Injury
Foundation, the organization was founded by families struggling to
face the issues that follow a brain injury. Today, BIAV is a primary
source of information and personal support for people affected by
this devastating injury.

Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury Services Unit
The Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury Services Unit (BI/SCIS),
located within the Community Based Services Division in the Richmond
Central Office, provides support, guidance, and technical assistance
to DRS field staff and agency administration regarding the rehabilitation
of persons with acquired neurotrauma.
Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery
This is a community based case management programfor brain injury survivors. Case management is a comprehensive approach to brain injury recovery that includes all aspects of a survivors life.-from assistance with applying for services to re-learning daily living skill and returning to school or work. Recovery does not end when an individual is released from the hospital – and our goal is to help survivors get back to their life once they come home.
Lakeview Blue Ridge
This community-integrated program provides intensive neurobehavioral treatment, comprehensive rehabilitation, a transitional unit, and supported living opportunities in a comfortable and cost-effective setting. Lakeview Blue Ridge is located in the heart of the vibrant Blacksburg and Virginia Tech community and emphasizes evidence-based treatment, a high quality of life, respect for individuality, and a focus on wellness.

Non-profit organization composed entirely of dedicated volunteers
and a Chapter of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia (or BIAV),
which is one of 44 state organizations of the national Brain Injury
Association of America.
Phoenix Star Clubhouse
The Phoenix Star Clubhouse is the only resource of its kind in Western Virginia to specifically address the needs of individuals with brain injuries. The Phoenix Star Clubhouse is a person-centered place for people with brain injuries to come together in a positive and supportive environment. The main focus of the Phoenix Star Clubhouse is to assist individuals with brain injuries to lead productive lives. This is achieved though involvement in the surrounding community, looking for and researching vocational opportunities, and volunteering at local agencies.
VCU TBI Model System
The mission of the National Resource Center for Traumatic Brain Injury is
to provide relevant, practical information for professionals, persons with
brain injury, and family members. Many of our products were developed by
nationally recognized experts. We have more than 20 years of experience
developing intervention programs, assessment tools, and investigating the
special needs and problems of people with brain injury and their families.
